003

Day 003 in London was another big walking around day.  We started at the Changing of the Horse Guard, went to Trafalgar Square and used the loo at the National Gallery while seeing the main chamber hall, did the Changing of the Guard at Buckingham Palace, squeezed in a short playground and pit stop in St. James Park, went to a nice lunch at a Pie and Ale house (the Sanctuary House), went to an Evensong service at Westminster Abbey, and then heard Big Ben toll at 1700 before calling it a day
This group spells trouble for any guards

The girls got a kick out of this guard screaming at tourists that got too close to the archway

The arch leading onto "The Mall" leading to Buckingham Palace
 Trafalgar Square
This is the tenth try at this picture, could you believe the lion just wouldn't cooperate
British National Gallery, the loo is worth the price of admission(free)
A big thumbs up to empty bladders

002

Day 002 in London was less of a catch-all, as we took a double decker bus to The British Museum.  The museum had some children's trails so we did an Ancient Eqypt trail, Toddler trail that included an African exhibit, and the Ancient Greece trail.

Part of the trail pamphlet asked kids to mimic the statue's pose
 Looking for the clue

 Where's Waldo, Obama style
Sydney passing through the Easter Isles room
It is an impressive building, and the artifacts are somewhat historic too!

 Go Rams!

It is unbelievable how shot (yet cute?)she is at this moment in the day
 The Parthenon pieces are overwhelming
The last clue on the last trail, unfortunately if you look at it you turn to stone

001

For those that may not know, Elizabeth had her fall break last week and we did what Europeans do on holiday, we went to another country, and London was our destination.  None of Team Munz have been, and we took Joshua's parents along for the adventure as well before they flew back to NY from the UK.  Follows is the fun week spin we took around the world's most visited city.

Day 001

Tube into city center from Airbnb flat, a stop at Kings Cross station to see the 9 3/4 platform from Harry Potter, a walk through and lunch at Leadenhall Market and a look at the Leaky Cauldron(also HP), then walking tour over London bridge to south side of Thames river>past Southwark cathedral>past the Globe Theater>up to observation deck of Tate Modern>across Millenium Bridge>back to north side of Thames and view of St. Paul's cathedral>some pastries during photo shoot at London telephone booth>walk to the Tower of London, then we met with Joshua's parents and took a cruise on the Thames river down to Parliament and back to Tower Bridge, had a  fish and chips dinner outside Tower of London, and were back on the tube to our rented flat.

Yes, we were trying to not overdo it on the first day so kept the itinerary light.
