Frederikstad

On a day trip to Frederikstad with Joshua's parents, while Elizabeth worked, we were able to see a extremely well preserved fortress town that includes a moat surrounding it.  The weather was beautiful and although not many buildings were open the girls enjoyed trekking all over the ramparts, and climbing on and pretending to fire a bunch of cannons.
Central square with statue of Frederik II
Walking the streets was like going back in time, town was founded in 1567
 Frederikstad church
 Passing through the Arsenal
View of the modern city, with water wheel on the island of Isegran
A snack stop on top of the fortress walls
 Good view of the moat
Grandma, Juliet and Evelyn in the distance and a view of the leveled walls down to the moat
 Juliet climbed about 30 cannons
Sydney on the drawbridge with a duck house in the moat

 Another new animal crossing sign
Red light, green light with Grandma in Kongsten Fort
Kongsten Fort is an older fort also within Frederikstad, but outside of the fortress town part

 The fort was well protected
 Fortified in 1677
On the walk through Frederikstad we found this bike and bench outside the Frederikstad handicraft society building and it made us think of our friend Adrianne
