We replaced our roof the first weekend in October with a lot of help from friends and family. Here is Mike starting the removal of the old shingles.
Sayed and Mike on removal duty with Brian and Joshua on clean-up duty.
Clearing the front was not small feat courtesy of the steep slope of the roof. Joshua, Rachel, Joshua's Dad, and Brian were part of the ground crew.
Joe and Brian with the moon in the backdrop.
Working their way down the front on ladders with Rebecca and Lori helping the discarded shingles find their way to the dumpster.
A scene in the back with Joe, Sayed, Brian, Joshua, Mike, Joshua's Dad, and my Dad (from left to right).
Joshua's Mom helped with the clean-up effort.
The bare front roof.
Brian starting the weather lock.
The end of day 1.
Part way into Day 2 - the back with dueling compressors.
Some light moments up through the solar tubes from inside the house.
Joe finds a comfy seat using the solar tube cut out to enjoy his sandwich.
Hooray for roofing nailers!
Toward the end of day 2 (technically, day 2 almost didn't end at all).
Scrambling up the front
Desperate times call for...(fighting darkness and the threat of bad weather).
I had to use a flash to get this picture to come out of Sydney with her Nana and Papa. That's the last picture I took on Day 2 but if our camera had a better nighttime setting, I could have taken plenty more of our work crew roofing - at night - with head lamps!
Day 3 - Brian and Joshua finish the end of the front roof.
No - the planks and brackets are not for show. Sayed's quote of the weekend from clearing off the front of the room sums it up, "If you sit, you slide." Many thanks to the impressive cast of characters who were part of this weekend. It was a major undertaking and we could not have done it without all of the help!
